Truman was a member of the Royal North West Mounted Police.48

He apparently also served as a police officer in South Africa (likely after his discharge from the army--see below). His family lost track of him, and made inquiries in South Africa. A letter in reply to his sister Bertha reads:
"TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS--STABULARIA, LONDON.
"MEMO
"From / THE STAFF OFFICER, /SOUTH AFRICAN CONSTABULARY, / KING'S COURT, / BROADWAY, / WESTMINSTER, / LONDON.
"S.A.C. No. 8065

"In reply to your letter dated 13 - 6 - 05, I am informed that no. A960 T.M. White gave his address on discharge as Dartford P.O. Ontario, Canada.
(signed) W. Carter Major / for SOSAC"85

He died in South Africa after serving in the South African War (presumably the Boer War).48

"Mrs. Harriet A. White of Dartford has received word from South Africa of the death of her son Truman White of Johannesburg, Transvaal. The surviving brothers and sisters are Freeman White, Dartford, Irvine E. White, California, Mrs. Harry Jones, Eldorado, Mrs. Edgar Rosevear, Hamilton township, and Mrs. Frank Wilson, Percy. The deceased was a veteran of the South African war; joining the Winnipeg heavy battery, he crossed the ocean on the same ship with the late Lieut Jcs Richardson."86
