Howard changed his name from GUNTER to HENNESSY.51 Obituary, Winnipeg Free Press, Oct. 1, 1997: "Howard Cameron Hennessy "Bravely with his family at his side, on Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, Howard Hennessy, beloved husband of Reta, passed away at the age of 86 years. "Howard was born in Whitewood, Saskatchewan on July 12, 1911. He lived in Whitewood until the age of about eight and then moved to Trenton. He married Reta in 1937 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversay on the 21st of September. He lived in Kenora Ontario in his early thirties and moved to Winnipeg in 1951. He worked for CPR from 1941 to 1971, and was a long time member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen (50 years), and a long time member of the St. George's Club. Howard was a devoted father who loved his children, enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes, family gatherings and playing the fiddle. "Howard was predeceased by his parents and three brothers. "Besides his loving wife Reta, 'Poppa' is also survived by his two daughters, Marg (George) Tresoor, and Liz (Allan) Woloski; his son George (Joyce); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. "A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 1, 1997 at 2:00 pm at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. "The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Victoria Hospital Wards 3 and 5 for their dedication and care.
