Obituary, Napanee Beaver, Mar. 9, 1917:
"The death occured on Friday, February 16th 1917 of an aged and most respected resident of Amherst Island, Sarah McKenzie, wife of William Wemp. Deceased was 72 years of age and had resided all her life on Amherst Island, being a daughter of the late Edward Howard. The late Mrs. Wemp bore a long and painful illness with Christian patience and fortitude and although unable to attend divine service, she was a regular communicant of the Church of England and appreciated the administrations of her church to the last.
"She is survived by her husband and three sons, Norman, Benjamin and Royal; and four daughters, Mrs. William Richards, Mrs. Richard O'Connor, Mrs. Robert Glenn and Mrs. William J. McKee, all residents of Amherst Island. The funeral service was held at the residence of Mr. William J. McKee on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. J.C. Dixon officiating. Interment took place in Glenwood cemetery."175
