"Myer had immigrated from Vilna where, as a boy, he had studied with the Chofetz Chaim. During the War, Myer worked on the construction of the Alcan highway, which joined Alberta and British Columbia to Alaska. Then he managed a hotel in Northern Ontario. In 1948, the family moved to Toronto. At first, Myer worked delivering milk by horse and wagon, and later as a salesman. The family was transferred to Montreal in 1958.
"Myer, the much-loved father, brother-in-law and uncle died a painful death of cancer in 1984. The whole family attended the funeral in Montreal, and Myer was able to have a last laugh at his university-educated brothers-in-law, who became lost on their way to the cemet[e]ry."50 |
