| "Alexander chose sailing on the Rideau River and the Great Lakes as a career. For a time he lived in Morristown, New York where some of his children were born. He later returned to Eastons Corners, Ontario. He continued to follow his career on the boats, becoming a Captain and owner of some boats, moving later to Bay City, Michigan where he owned and operated a tug and barge out of that port. ... At the time of his death he lived in Bay City, Michigan, the date of his death occurring in 1877 at the age of sixty-two."32 |
