Notes for Elizabeth CORK |
Elizabeth immigrated to Canada with her husband around 1848. She was possibly related to the Cork family of Prince Edward County ON. She lent money at 20% interest--and was consequently "much hated". She was strong-willed and a troublemaker. She stored pans of maple sugar in the attic, and her sons stole them. She lived with her sons in old age. On one occasion Samuel was taking her to go to John's home but she did not wish to. She yelled and screamed all the way through Campbellford with Samuel holding on to her. She left all her money to her grandson Edmund.41 |
